JULIAN SELLERS, BORN IN 2006

Born in New York City, 2006 and raised in San Diego, California, Julian Sellers is an artist working in music, video, performance, collage, and photography. His work explores themes of sexuality, violence, identity, control, consciousness, and transgression through the use of extreme imagery and the juxtaposition of symbols to express deeply personal experiences and emotions. Sellers’ work is an expression of his most inner thoughts, and obsessions, a result of a desire to express these all in a healthy, honest way. His exhibited work includes the sound installation Controlled Mutilation at ARTS Center, San Diego, California. Sellers performed as the lead songwriter/frontman for post-punk band The Shirley Temples from 2021 to 2024, and currently performs as part of the power electronics duo People of Praise. . He published his first creative writing anthology, Flowers of Filth, in 2024, and he runs his own zine/press Experience with friend and frequent collaborator Cesaire Jose Carroll-Dominguez.He is currently a BFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
